Guide selected Grade 7–11 students in English, Reading, and Writing — as an act of seva. Your words and your love of language can change their story.
"The Gurudwara has always been a place of learning and seva. This is your chance to carry that forward — one student, one sentence, one idea at a time."
English tutoring is different from Math. There are no worked solutions — but you are not without support. You are given login access to the same learning software your students use, annotated reading passages, discussion guides, and example responses for every topic covered.
Your job is to guide students to think, reason, and express themselves clearly. You ask the questions that develop their analytical voice. A senior faculty member is always available for consultation at any time.
| 1.5 hrs / week | Review student progress, annotated passages, and discussion guides via your software login |
| 1.5 hrs / week | Mid-week Zoom session — guide students through reading passages and writing concepts |
| 2 hrs / week | Sunday in-person session at the Gurudwara |
| 5 hrs total | Structured, supported, and purposeful |
English teachers, writing instructors, journalists, editors, humanities graduates, lawyers, or anyone who scored strongly on the SAT/GRE verbal section and enjoys working with young people. You do not need a teaching credential — you need a love of language and a commitment to showing up.
A heartfelt token of gratitude, a formal acknowledgement letter signed by Prof. Baltej Singh Mann, and recognition at every quarterly Parents Forum and in all program materials.
Your seva will be honoured — in gratitude, in recognition, and in the difference you make.
